Tennis History in Bermuda

Bermudians Founded the USTA (United States Tennis Association)

Bermuda has a long and rich history with tennis. Bermudian Mary Outerbridge took tennis from the island and introduced the game to the United States in 1875. She built the first courts with her sister at the Staten Island Cricket and Baseball Club. Her brother cofounded the United States Tennis Association in 1881 to help regulate and standardize the game. The Coral Beach & Tennis Club is written into the USTA constitution as a Direct Member club with voting rights.

The Coral Beach & Tennis Club is a private, members-only club situated within 26 acres of luscious sub-tropical grounds overlooking the spectacular South Shore in Paget parish.
